The hard facts first…

At this point in time there are very limited funds available to help finance students at the Bubble, unless you are a UWC Changshu DP2 student.

We hope to change this through various fundraising initiatives, but for now, if you cannot pay for yourself, your chances of joining the Bubble are low. But where there is a will there is a way. Get creative! Make your own fundraiser, talk to your National Committee, and ask your College if it can help. You can do it! Remember what Kurt Hahn said: "There is more in you than you think!"

We encourage you to apply even if you cannot pay for yourself. In this way you will be on our radar should we manage to raise funds, which can be used to provide financial assistance.

Once you have filled in this application form, we review your application and check to ensure sufficient funding is available for you to join the Bubble for at least four weeks.

Once done, we hand over your application to Ranum Efterskole College, who will guide you through the rest of the admission process. Your contractual relationship for your stay is with Ranum Efterskole College, not with us or UWC, so please ensure you adhere to Ranum’s Rules and Regulations, give notices as required, and pay your fees on time.

We are extremely lucky and grateful that Ranum Efterskole College is willing to put on a Bubble during these uncertain Coronavirus times. Ranum is doing its utmost to help us, but we also have to remember there are limits to what Ranum can do. Because of the Coronavirus, visa requirements and other rules change all the time, and countries open and close with little notice. Ranum Efterskole College’s Terms and Conditions may then subsequently also have to change to reflect this reality.

At present, the maximum possible duration of stay at the Bubble is six months. To be able to stay at the Bubble for six months will require a visa extension. Whether this extension is granted or not is beyond Ranum’s control. However, should you stay long enough at the Bubble to require a visa extension, Ranum will do its utmost to help you get one.

Cost of stay

The cost of staying at the Ranum Bubble is Dkr11,000 (ca. EUR1,480 or USD1,738) for four weeks. The stay is pre-paid in lots of four weeks.

Initial four weeks

- Minimum stay at the Bubble is two weeks.

- The student must serve one week's prior written notice in case the student wants to leave the Bubble before a four-week pre-paid period expires.

- In case a student wants to leave the Bubble early within the initial four-week period, DKR2,750 (the cost of one week’s stay) will be charged in addition to recover admin costs.

Subsequent weeks

- To prolong a stay at the Bubble the student must inform of this intent in writing latest two weeks before the four-week pre-paid period expires.

- The student must confirm the financial assistance, if required, is available to prolong the stay.

- Finally, latest one week before the current four-week period expires, the student must prepay the student’s self-financing contribution for the next four-week period. Only when all this is done, has the stay been prolonged.

- If no extension of stay is arranged, the student is expected to leave the Ranum Bubble on the last day of the paid up four-week period.

I can pay for my own travel to and from Ranum Efterskole College I can pay for my own pocket money. Suggested amount DKR100 – 150 per week I can pay for the travel insurance for the duration of my stay. This is to ensure you have medical coverage, in case you need to see a doctor, hospitalization or repatriation. * I can pay for the required personal accident insurance for the duration of my stay. This is to ensure you have coverage if you cause damage to yourself. I can pay for the required liability insurance for the duration of my stay. This is in case you cause damage to others (people and/or things). **

* Danes are already covered by Det gule sygesikringsbevis and EU citizens are already covered by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

** Travel insurances often offer medial, accident and liability insurance under one cover, so check this first before you start buying individual insurances. Also, your family’s existing insurances may already cover some, if not all, of these insurances, even if you are abroad.
